This lesson introduces learners to market positioning, we start by looking at positioning and differenation is before looking at market maps. Students have the opportunity to become familiar with market maps with a set of structured activities to design their own, examples of different axes are given with ideas for markets to use.
We move on to read a concise case study on a hotel chain that is quite different from normal hotel chains, a 4 and 12 mark question, both with structure guidance and model answers for students to use when self or peer assessing, marking grid for the 12 marker included. We finish off with a research task on the rebranding of Emirates airline.

This double lesson introduces learners to organic growth, we start by looking at the problems of rapid growth from the previous lesson before looking at the methods of organic growth and their advantages and disadvantages. We then go on to read a short case study on a ready meal manufacturer based in Bradford, who have grown organincally since 1979. A 10 mark question on this with structure guidance and a concise model answer provided, to help students peer assess against the criteria.
This is followed by a research task for students to find a company that has grown organically (link for poundland given if students struggle to find), they then present their findings back to the class - structure for this is provided too.
We finish off with a kahoot quiz, the link is included and a box plenary.

This double lesson introduces learners to motivation, we look at both the four theories and the variety of ways to motivate in practice. We start with looking at the four theorists, step by step with discussion, a short case study to apply the knowledge with answers on the powerpoint.
We then go onto look at financial and non financial methods of motivation before looking at a case study of a company that has been voted as one of the best places to work - we investigate what makes it such a good place to work, a 24 mark question based on this with structure guidance and a model answer provided.

This lesson introduces learners to quantitative sales forecasting, the lesson is broken down right from the beginning - we recap how to work out basic averages learnt in math, we then look at an example of how to work out 3 year moving average and then to centring with 8 figures, all broken down step by step. We then look at the limitations of using quantitative sales forecasting.
We then go on to read a concise case study where students have to work out the moving averages and then answer a 20 mark question (this can be done as a discussion or answered as an exam question), concise model answer is given and students can see how to structure a 20 mark question.

This set of resources includes 1x PPT and 2x word files and can be delivered over 2-3 lessons. Learners are introduced to key concepts in organisational structures such as span of control and chain of command in engaging ways i.e chinese whispers to demonstrate the negatives of a long chain of command. We look at the pros and cons of tall, flat and matrix structures, then we move on onto centralised and decentralised structures. A short case study based on cartoon characters who have switched to decentralised - a few questions to contextualize the knowledge.
Students have the opportunity to learn about the supermarket industry, in particular Morrisons struggle with the budget supermarkets which led to restructuring - a 12 mark question with structure guidance and a detailed model answer to help students with peer assessments, as well as making improvements to WWW and EBI.
To spice it up a bit, a group matching task, where students have to create an organisational structure - answer sheet provided so teacher can look around whilst students work on it.

This double lesson introduces learners to price elasticity of demand - a tricky concept at first but this resource breaks everything down step by step with plenty of calculation and essay exam practice. We start by looking at the concept of elasticity with an engaging Eastenders starter, we learn the key formulas needed to tackle any PED questions before looking at examples of some inelastic products.
Students have the opportunity to calculate PED questions with answers on the board to show how answers are reached. We then go on to look at factors that affect the price elasticity of a product and apply this theory to a Nando’s 8 mark question - structure guidance and a model answer is provided for students to look at before peer assessing and responding to WWW and EBI.

I have included Maslow’s hierarchy of needs although they do not need to know this for this particular course, however it helps with understanding motivation and extend their knowledge on the topic.
